Ideas Need Execution

My partner and I have always considered ourselves executors. When we were coming up in the ranks of digital media, our promotions and rewards were always due in large part to our ability to get things done. And after starting our company back in 2003, we quickly realized our execution skills were a valuable asset to our clients; especially those with big ideas but little practical experience creating digital solutions.

We recognized very early on that a great idea that’s poorly executed is not only a waste of time, effort, and money, but also just a really really sad situation. Unfortunately we see it a lot—websites and web apps that are rooted in a pretty good idea but fall short when it comes to making it work. Recently I happened upon a great way to quantify the value of execution. It’s an idea that was posted by Derek Sivers of CDbaby.com fame a few years ago. He puts forth a straightforward way to evaluate how much an idea is really worth based on the team’s ability to make it happen. “To me,” he says “ideas are worth nothing unless executed. They are just a multiplier. Execution is worth millions.”

That’s where experience and the right attitude come into play, and that’s why Ripe Media exists—to help you make your good/great/brilliant idea as valuable as it should be.
